IV&V for OSMAPS (Open Skies Management and Planning Systems)

The Open Skies Management and Planning System (OSMAPS) is a planning tool for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to enforce the Open Skies Treaty. The project is a conversion of OSMAPS from a Unix-based system with ADA language to a Personal Computer (PC) based system with Java language.

What Are The Main Elements of OSMAPS?

Open Skies Management and Planning Systems relies on GENCO of IV and V performance. The OSMAPS system consists of three main functional components: Operational Planning System (OPS), Passive Overflight Module (POM), and Active Overflight System (AOS). Each of these components is designed to operate as an independent mode of OSMAPS.

The OPS mode provides planning capabilities for actual flight operations. This mode allows the user to evaluate and modify routes provided based on human and/or mission constraints.

The POM mode provides the capabilities to evaluate proposed and flown routes for site visibility and analysis.

The AOS mode provides the capability to plan flights over sites of interest. This mode allows the user to evaluate the probable success of viewing the sites based on the constraints of the viewed state along with human and/or mission constraints.

The OSMAPS project calls for overseeing the conversion effort from Ada code to PC based Java code. The customer expects GENCO to ensure proper functional design, architecture design, data integrity, and requirements compliance after the conversion process.

How Is GENCO SYSTEMS Involved in the Project?

GENCO will apply its IV&V techniques to address customer expectation. We are monitoring the conversion efforts of the contractor and providing independent assessment of the development and testing activities. We are maintaining the requirements traceability database, analyzing requirements, maintaining design and test documentation, monitoring the contractor test activities, and performing selected tests independently. DTRA uses GENCO's input to make key decisions about the program.

IV&V for the FAA's AAS (Air Traffic Control Advanced Automation System)

AAS was part of the FAA's National Airspace System Plan Modernization effort. Genco Systems provided IV&V support to Logicon Inc. and the FAA through a sub-contract with EER Systems Corporation.

Services that GENCO Provided for the AAS Project:

  • Requirements Analysis

  • Creation and Maintenance of Requirements List Database

  • Traceability Analysis

  • Technical Analysis of contract delivered items

  • Interface Analysis

  • Code Analysis (Manual and Automated)

  • Test Coverage Analysis

  • Formal Review and Walk-Through Support
