Communications Engineering Support for the FAA's NEXCOM (Next Generation Communications System)
GENCO is providing Communication Engineering support for the FAA's Next Generation Communications System (NEXCOM). This project will replace the existing Air-Ground Communication System used by pilots and air traffic controllers to communicate.
This project is a part of the Northrop Grumman/Titan AUATAC contract that supports many FAA communications programs (AND-300). Our responsibilities for NEXCOM include development of subsystem interface documents such as IRDs (Interface Requirements Documents) and ICD Interface Control Documents). We are responsible for review and comment of vendor documentation as well as peer review of other teammate documents.
We are a member of the NEXCOM Interface Working Group. In this role, we attend NEXCOM Interface Working Group Meetings.
NEXCOM Multi Digital Radio System, Database Input Support
Our company provides database inputs and generation of reports as well as these other services.
- Performing audit of document library by verification of postings on Web sites, manual inventory of hard and soft copies on hand, and local electronic library.
- File maintenance.
- Distribute Contract Deliverable Requirements List's (CDRL's) items to various FAA facilities.
- Research documents, upon request for the FAA.
- Provide support for Multimode Digital Radio (MDR) and AND-360.
- Maintain databases for MDR and AND-360.
WARP Process Improvement Support
Genco Systems Engineers are supporting the WARP Program Office and TRW's process initiatives to raise the WARP Product Team to an Integrated Capability Maturity Model (iCMM) Level 3.
Our Specific Activities
- Create a plan for process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate plan and process improvements with other companion projects such as OASIS and ITWS.
- Negotiate plan implementations with the FAA and TRW management.
- Assess the Team for a particular iCMM level and suggest improvement initiatives needed.
- Monitor the progress for different process improvement initiatives.
- Perform necessary training to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Develop various process areas such as Peer Review and Risk Management implementation plans.
- Perform quality assurance activities for the WARP Team.
